The game is on, and it’s countdown time! Will not be able to start this year’s Cycle NC Mountains to Coast event as scheduled in Spruce Pine on October 5th as a result of the destruction of Hurricane Helene. The start was moved to the east as the original start town was devastated. Hearts, prayers, & donations go out to them & everyone in Western NC.
The organizers and local officials have decided to start this year’s tour in Lenoir, NC on Sunday October 6th. I was looking forward to the "“Meat” us at the Spruce Pine BBQ Festival" but given the circumstances we held our own festival at the Ski Resort on Friday night to kick things off.
The campsite is all set and we are getting settled in for the first night under the stars.
I’ll do my best to document our travels over the next week ;-)
